The Peabody Community Choir will premiere my most recent piece, which I wrote for them while composer-in-residence with them this semester. The piece is titled in greeting its own earth, and uses the poem “Embodiment” by Sabrina Sadique.

I have been working other Peabody composers Camila Agosto, Jamie Leidwinger, and Richard Drehoff, as well as MICA Fiber Artist Robin Marquis over the last few months to organize and produce this concert. The event will include multimedia concert works by Agosto, Leidwinger, and Drehoff, sound installation by me, and a visual installation by Marquis.

My piece, Ritual: Breath of Poem which won first prize in Peabody’s annual Prix d’Eté competition this year, is being premiered alongside the other winners’ pieces. The concert is part of the Institute’s Friday Noon series. It is free and open to the public.

The Witches perform my piece “Only A Little Taller” on their “Behind the Curtain: New Music on Women” concert at Johns Hopkins University. My composition was written using recorded readings of the Edna St. Vincent Millay poem “The Concert” which were then transcribed, turned into melodies, and harmonized.
